Rising Star Chihuahuas & Rising Sun Pekingese

Raising happy and healthy puppies
for pet and show.

Welcome

About me....

I am a small hobby breeder just getting started in the Chihuahuas and Pekingese, and have had the cute little Shih-tzu now for about 7 years. I have been "in the dogs" for about 30 years...just a bigger version...the Chow Chow.

We are located in the Land of Lakes~Michigan...in the south central area~Battle Creek. We are conveniently located right off from I-94 @ Exit 100, very central to many dog shows here in Michigan and Indiana.

My mom and I are joining this venture in Pekingese as we did in Chows and just learning this breed, it's standards, presentation, grooming and all that makes a Pekingese such a wonderful little companion dog.

A  little more on my own I am also busy learning all the attributes of the Chihuahua and what makes them a cool little companion dog too! Grooming (really), presentation and their standard and breeding for that special little one to be my first home bred Champion!

You will see as you browse our site that there are in fact two kennel names being used, one for each breed. I had already established "Rising Sun " for the Pekingese and had been using that for awhile when I became very interested in the Chihuahuas. I joined a group and what did I find but that very name being used by a wonderful lady and now my friend, Mary Bachman of Minnesota for her Chihuahua kennel. After some thought I chose the name "Rising Star" to begin my journey in the Chihuahua breed.

Since we had Pekingese when I was a kid growing up and well into my teen years this breed and its personality were always near and dear to my heart...but I can't say that about the Chihuahua. For all those years that we were showing the Chows, mom and I would walk by the ring and say "I would NEVER" have one of those!!"...Well, never say never!!

I visited a friend one day and yes, she had some of "those" little dogs, about 5 of them in fact...sweet, dear little things, and all of them wanted to be held and snuggled on my lap...such a relaxing experience. She had a litter and finally when those pups were about 14 weeks old I told her I thought I really wanted one and so got my first little pet, "Trophy"...and that he surely is! Well, the rest is history, I was smitten and now have, well, let's just say...more than one! They truly are a companion dog and want nothing more than to be by your side as much as you will allow that to be!

I hope you enjoy your visit...
